Privacy Notice (KVKK)

This notice explains how your personal data is processed during a conversation rehearsal on Understudy, under Turkey's Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK).

Data controller

The organization that invited you (your employer or training provider) is the data controller. Understudy is the data processor acting on its behalf.

Data processed

  • The name you enter.
  • The text of the rehearsal: what you type or, in voice mode, the transcript of what you say.
  • The evaluation of the conversation: scores, reasons and suggestions.
  • When you consented and which version of this notice you agreed to.
  • Technical records for security (IP address, timestamps).

Voice recordings

If you use voice mode, your voice is sent only to be converted into text; the recording is not stored. The other party's replies are sent as text to be spoken aloud.

Purposes

  • Providing the rehearsal: generating a realistic AI counterpart.
  • Evaluating your communication skills and reporting the result to the organization that invited you.
  • Keeping the service secure and preventing abuse.

Legal basis

Your data is processed to provide the rehearsal service and under your organization's legitimate interest (KVKK Art. 5/2). Transferring data to service providers abroad relies on your explicit consent (KVKK Art. 9).

Who receives it

  • The organization that invited you: sees your name, conversation and result.
  • DeepSeek (China): generating the other party's replies and evaluating the conversation.
  • Deepgram (USA): converting your speech to text in voice mode.
  • ElevenLabs (USA): speaking the other party's replies aloud.
  • Supabase (South Korea): database.
  • Render (USA) and Vercel (USA): application and website hosting.

Retention

Your records are kept until the organization that invited you deletes them. When it deletes a participant, the name, conversation and result are removed permanently, and from backups within 30 days at most.

Automated evaluation

Your score is produced automatically by AI. If you believe the result works against you, you can object and ask for a person to review it (KVKK Art. 11/1-g).

Your rights

Under KVKK Art. 11 you may learn whether your data is processed, request information, ask for correction or deletion, learn who it was transferred to, object, and claim compensation for damage. Send requests to the organization that invited you; if it has set a contact address, it is shown on the rehearsal page.

Consent and withdrawal

A rehearsal cannot start without explicit consent. You can withdraw it at any time by contacting the organization that invited you, which can then delete your record.
